In the Essex County Council elections held this month UKIP came
very close to defeating the Conservatives in Great Baddow. UKIP candidate
Jeanette Howes lost by just 72 votes to Conservative winner Jenny Chandler.
Voting for Great Baddow was as follows: Jenny Chandler (Con)
1440; Jeanette Howes (UKIP) 1368; Chris Rycroft (LD) 1191; Richard Hyland (Lab)
472; Darryl Newport (green) 152; Turnout 29.4%.
