Sutherland Lodge Surgery Disruption

January 2016

The four senior partners at the Sutherland Lodge Surgery in Baddow Road have resigned because of government funding cuts. They have given notice to leave on 30th June 2016 and the surgery now faces an uncertain future. Other local surgeries in the area, including Great Baddow Village Surgery, are now expected to receive an influx of new patient requests.

NHS England insist that the surgery will not close and are now looking for a new provider to take over from 1st July 2016.

MacMillan Coffee Morning Success

The Great Baddow Community Centre took part in the MacMillan 'World Biggest Coffee Morning'
on Friday, September 25th and raised £731.20 for the cancer charity.

The Blue Lion Pub Re-Opens

The Blue Lion pub in Tabors Hill, Great Baddow has re-opened after an extensive refurbishment. The restaurant at the new look establishment will be open 7 days a week serving food throughout the day. You can take a look at their menu at www.theblueliongreatbaddow.com.

Jazz Band Play At Beer Festival

The Great Baddow Community Centre are hosting a Beer Festival this Bank Holiday weekend. On offer are numerous real ales and ciders, hot and cold food and live entertainment. All welcome.

The Beehive Pub Closes Down

The Beehive Pub at the junction of Baddow Road and Beehive Lane has been closed down. The windows and doors of the building have been boarded up and the car park blocked.

Developers proposed to demolish the pub and replace the area with shops and housing.

Ponds To Be Cleared In Baddow Rec

March 2015

Work will take place to clean the ponds in Noakes Place this month. The work is expected to last 6 weeks until the end of April.

Leaf litter and organic matter will be removed in order to increase the water holding capacity and repairs will be made to the banks. In the interest of public safety, visitors to the area are asked not to enter the contractors work zone and to keep dogs under control at all times.
