New Great Baddow Sign

Great Baddow has a new village sign. It was created by metal-work craftsman Dan Rawlings and is situated opposite St Mary's Church at the junction with The White Horse pub.

The Marconi-themed sign replaces the old one which fell down eighteen months ago because of the mast rotting away.

Storm Hits Great Baddow

On the morning of October 28th 2013, like most of the UK, Great Baddow was hit by a severe storm that caused damage to trees and property.

This photograph was taken in Baddow Hall Avenue where a fallen tree completely blocked the road.

New Nets For Great Baddow Cricket Club

Chelmsford City Mayor (and Great Baddow Parish Councillor) Trevor Miller officially opened Great Baddow Cricket Club's new nets in the Recreation Ground on Saturday, September 28th 2013.. He is pictured with Great Baddow Cricket Club President Peter Tuxhill, his wife the Mayoress Maureen Miller and members of the clubs colts.

The club's head coach, David Byford, said that the three bay synthetic practise area was the culmination of 14 years hard work at the club. It is hoped that the new facility will help Great Baddow Cricket Club to continue to grow and achieve further success.

New Menu At Kings Head Pub

The Kings Head pub in Maldon Road, Great Baddow is building a fine reputation for the quality of its food and for the month of September is offering 2 for 1 on all meals. They serve from 11am - 7pm everyday. Definitely worth a visit!

The main menu includes:

Hunters smoothered chicken breast with grilled streaky bacon and BBQ sauce, mature cheddar served with chips and a dressed salad;

Grilled gammon steak with chips and peas and a choice of fried egg or pineapple;

Beer battered cod with chips, mushy peas and tartare sauce;

Steak & Kidney pie served with mashed potato and veg;

Chicken Tikka Masala with rice popadums, nann bread and mango chutney;

Vegetable or traditional lasagne served with chips and salad;

All day breakfasts with a choice of egg, bacon, sausage, hash browns, mushrooms, fried bread, black pudding and beans.

An Essex air ambulance was called to the Great Baddow Recreation Ground to take an injured person to hospital.

Great Baddow Cricket Team Hit Top Spot

Captained by Craig Nuttall (3rd in top row), Great Baddow 2nd XI cricket team have enjoyed a fantastic season. They are currently top of the T. Rippon Mid-Essex Cricket League (Division 4). They require just one more victory to win the league.

The UK's No.1 Sinatra tribute act 'Classic Sinatra' played at the Great Baddow Club on Saturday night (August 3rd) to a packed audience in the members bar.
