The Kings Head pub in Maldon Road, Great Baddow is building a fine reputation for the quality of its food and for the month of September is offering 2 for 1 on all meals. They serve from 11am - 7pm everyday. Definitely worth a visit!
The main menu includes:
Hunters smoothered chicken breast with grilled streaky bacon and BBQ sauce, mature cheddar served with chips and a dressed salad;
Grilled gammon steak with chips and peas and a choice of fried egg or pineapple;
Beer battered cod with chips, mushy peas and tartare sauce;
Steak & Kidney pie served with mashed potato and veg;
Chicken Tikka Masala with rice popadums, nann bread and mango chutney;
Vegetable or traditional lasagne served with chips and salad;
All day breakfasts with a choice of egg, bacon, sausage, hash browns, mushrooms, fried bread, black pudding and beans.

Great Baddow Cricket Team Hit Top Spot

Captained by Craig Nuttall (3rd in top row), Great Baddow 2nd XI cricket team have enjoyed a fantastic season. They are currently top of the T. Rippon Mid-Essex Cricket League (Division 4). They require just one more victory to win the league.

The UK's No.1 Sinatra tribute act 'Classic Sinatra' played at the Great Baddow Club on Saturday night (August 3rd) to a packed audience in the members bar.

Great Baddow Man Announces Royal Birth

Great Baddow's Tony Appleton, 76, announced the birth of the royal baby, Prince George, to billions of people throughout the world when he took to the steps of St Mary's Hospital in London.In front of the world's media and dressed in a traditional red jacket and a red, white and blue ostrich feathered hat Tony cried,
"On this day the 22nd July in the year 2013, we welcome with honourable duty a future king. The first born of their Royal Highness the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. The third in line to the throne.
Our new prince is the third great grandchild of Her Majesty the Queen and the first grandchild of the Royal Highness the Prince of Wales. May he be long lived, happy and glorious and one day to reign over us. God save the Queen."
Tony, who has been Great Baddow's town crier for 25 years, was not part of the official proceedings.
He admitted, "I gatecrashed it. - the crowd were hysterical, absolutely ecstatic. They thought I was the messanger for the Queen."
Tony, now dubbed the 'Royal town crier', appeared on television stations around the world and his photograph on every newspaper including the Los Angeles Times.

New Look Co-op Re-opens

A new look Co-op supermarket has opened in the Vineyards (Thursday, 25th July). The store has been closed for two weeks to undergo a major refurbishment. The new shop has an in store bakery, new 'environment friendly' chilled fridges, self scan tills and an ATM.
You are also able to buy lottery tickets and pay bills using the Paypoint service. Opening hours are 7.00am - 10.00pm 7 days a week.
